Teachers Course
Welcome to Gh Conservatoire College: Department of Music Education & Teacher Training
Our Department of Music Education is dedicated to shaping the next generation of music educators, school music directors, private studio instructors, and academic researchers.
This program equips candidates with a strong dual foundation: deep musical artistry and scholarship paired with educational psychology, instructional design, classroom management, and practical teaching experience.
Through a 5-tier academic framework—spanning Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor of Music Education (B.M.Ed.), Master of Music Education (M.M.Ed.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Music Education—we prepare teachers to lead in K–12 schools, conservatoires, community music schools, and higher-education institutions.
Program Philosophy & Educational Pillars
Our teacher training curriculum develops well-rounded educators who can teach both practical musicianship and music theory with clarity and inspiration. The curriculum balances five core pillars:
Pedagogical Mastery & Learning Psychology: Child and adolescent development, learning theories (Kodály, Orff Schulwerk, Dalcroze, Gordon), differentiated instruction, and inclusive education.
Applied Musicianship & Multi-Instrumental Literacy: Functional keyboard fluency, vocal health/conducting, guitar, recorder, percussion, and basic brass/woodwind/string secondary instrument methods.
Conducting & Ensemble Directorship: Rehearsal technique, score study, posture, baton technique, and directing choirs, bands, orchestras, and contemporary rhythm sections.
Curriculum Design & Educational Technology: Developing standard-aligned syllabi, lesson planning, assessment rubrics, digital audio workstations (DAWs), and music notation software (Sibelius/Finale/MuseScore).
Classroom Management & Field Practicum: Supervised student-teaching observations, micro-teaching sessions, classroom administration, and educational ethics.
